On translating Chinese cultural elements into English in the context of “Telling Chinese Stories Well”
讲好中国故事视域下的中国文化元素对外翻译研究

摘要

讲好中国故事的本质就是中国故事的全球传播，而传播的本质是意义的共享与情感的共鸣。翻译作为跨文化传播的核心环节，其终极目标并非语言符号的简单转换，而是实现文化意义的跨语境迁移，使目标受众理解、共鸣与接受。中国文化元素是中国故事的重要成分，因此向世界讲述中国故事时，要将中国文化符号进行共情化转译，转变叙事视角将中国文化进行共情化重构，使目标受众从认知上完成文化语义的解码理解，情感上实现文化价值的共情共鸣，行为上推动文化实践的接纳认同。

Abstract

In essence, telling Chinese stories well to the world is a global communication of those Chinese narratives, and the nature of communication lies in meaning sharing and emotional resonance. As the core of cross-cultural communication, translation does not deal with the mere conversion of linguistic symbols, but the cross-contextual transference of cultural meanings, which facilitates audiences’ comprehension, resonance, and acceptance. As the key components of Chinese stories, Chinese cultural elements should be rendered empathically, with empathetic narrative reconstruction integrated into the process of telling Chinese stories. This approach helps decode and interpret the cultural meanings of Chinese elements, evoke a response from audience and enable them to embrace Chinese culture.
