The ecological consciousness in traditional Tibetan folk songs: A case study of the Dpa’ris Tibetan folk song “Zhang a Long La Mo a Long Len”

本文以华锐藏族民歌中比较典型的 “Zhang a Long La Mo a Long Len ”的部分歌词为素材，通过细读神山圣湖的崇拜意象、自然物的人格化修辞、以及“无造作”的审美理想，揭示传统藏族民歌中生态意识的多层体现。研究表明，歌词将自然物象与神圣性直接等同，通过“无需建造的神殿”“无需点燃的焚香”等否定性修辞消解人工对自然的干预，呈现出一种以敬畏为底色、以顺应为核心的生态伦理。这种以艺术方式内化生态观念的文化机制，对于理解藏族传统生态观的深层结构具有重要价值。

Abstract

This paper takes the lyrics of the representative Huarui Tibetan folk song Zhang a Long La Mo a Long Len as its research material. Through a close reading of the worship imagery of sacred mountains and lakes, the personification of natural entities, and the aesthetic ideal of “no artificiality,” it reveals the multi-layered expressions of ecological consciousness in traditional Tibetan folk songs. The study demonstrates that the lyrics directly equate natural objects with sacredness. Employing negative rhetorical devices such as “a shrine without construction” and “incense without burning,” they reduce human interference with nature, presenting an ecological ethics grounded in reverence and centered on accommodation. This cultural mechanism of internalizing ecological concepts through artistic expression carries great significance for understanding the deep structure of traditional Tibetan ecological views.
