生态翻译学视角下《在北京冬奥会、冬残奥会总结表彰大会上的讲话》英译研究

摘要

北京冬奥会是展示中国发展的一面镜子,映照出中国构建人类命运共同体的价值追求,具有深远的世界意义。习主席在此次总结表彰大会上的讲话是阐释中国政治理念、构筑中国话语体系的关键窗口,展现了高度的政治与文化自信。外宣翻译需精准传达信息,兼顾文化差异与受众需求,对塑造国家形象、提升国际话语权、促进文化交流至关重要。生态翻译学为外宣翻译提供了新视角,强调翻译生态平衡及译者在多维度下的适应与选择,契合中华文化国际化需求。本文基于该理论的翻译适应选择论,从语言维、文化维、交际维分析习主席讲话英译文中的词汇、句子、中国文化负载词、成语和诗句,重点关注受众导向下文本移植中的“尚生”之道,为外宣翻译实践提供有益参考。研究发现:外宣翻译宜以归化为主要翻译策略;翻译方法多用分译与合译,强调用反译,但使用较少;语言维以直译为主,文化维与交际维常用意译,旨在延续文本生命,实现多维度下的生态平衡。

Abstract

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics is a mirror, reflecting both China’s development and its pursuit of building a community with a shared future for mankind, thus bearing profound global significance. Therefore, Chinese President’s speech at the review and awards ceremony is a key window for interpreting China’s political concepts and developing China’s discourse system, demonstrating strong political and cultural confidence. Publicity translation needs to accurately convey information, and take into account cultural differences and audience needs, and is crucial for shaping the national image, enhancing China’s voice in international affairs, and promoting cultural exchanges. Eco-translatology offers a novel perspective on publicity translation. It emphasizes eco-balance and translators’ adaptation and selection in multiple dimensions, which is in line with the needs of the internationalization of Chinese culture. This paper, based on the adaptation and selection of this theory, analyzes the vocabulary, sentences, Chinese culture-loaded words, idiom, and verse in the English translation of Chinese President’s speech at the ceremony from linguistic, cultural, and communicative dimension, focusing on the life orientation in the textual transplantation from the audience-oriented perspective. This paper seeks to contribute useful references to publicity translation practice. It is shown that domestication should be the main translation strategy for publicity translation, that division and combination are extensively used whereas negation is occasionally employed for emphasis among translation methods, and that literal translation is given the top priority in linguistic dimension while free translation is commonly used in cultural and communicative dimension to continue the textual life and achieve eco-balance in multiple dimensions.
